Plot – Nathan Detroit is the owner of a gambling house who constantly has to change venues to escape police checks. At the last change, he is forced to pay one thousand dollars upfront to the owner of a club. On Broadway Nathan meets ‘Heaven’ Masterson, an inveterate gambler, and bets him a thousand dollars that he will not be able to invite Sara Brown, a girl who belongs to the Salvation Army, to dinner in Cuba. ‘Heaven’ manages to convince the girl with the promise of bringing many penitents to the next religious meeting and soon Sara falls for him. When they return from their Cuban holiday the two find the congregation venues occupied by Nathan’s gambling den.
